This Service Agreement ("Agreement") is entered into by and between the Client ("Client") and Modernize Methods LLC ("Provider"), located at 715 Chicago Ave, Evanston, IL 60202. This Agreement is effective as of the date the Client schedules and pays for services.

1. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES
Provider agrees to offer visual design services tailored to the Client's project goals, budget, and space layout. Services may include (depending on the service package ordered), color schemes, design updates, concept design boards, lighting, décor recommendations, layout modifications, furnishing selections, shopping links for elements needed for updates and full-color renderings. The design process includes design and element update advice, layout and visual rendering services. Services also include recommendation of expert service providers, which is optional for Client to utilize. The services for most packages are based on a flat-fee package pricing as follows:

Design Consultation Package ($375 per session)
Kick-start your next design project with our two-hour consultation—available remotely or on-site. This standalone service package includes personalized guidance tailored to your design concerns, goals, and budget. We’ll review your space, answer your questions, and provide curated resources including suggestions for furnishings, flooring, tile, window treatments, lighting, color palettes, layouts, and more.

Consultations are limited to a maximum of two hours and are perfect for DIYers or those seeking professional insight before starting a project. Flat-rate service terms apply, and this package does not include a full design rendering or concept board. All standard agreement terms apply.

 

Standard Design Package ($1,565 per room)

  • Remote or on-site 45-minute consultation with photo submission

  • Research of updated elements and materials recommended for the project based on Client’s directives and budget.

  • Maximum updated elements and materials if no more than 5 elements are included in this package.

  • Design recommendation plan presented in a preliminary format of concept boards, with one revision included.

  • With final Client Approval a full-color rendering of the complete recommendation design plan is provided, showing all final elements and updates in the rendering.

  • A Statement Sheet with 5 updated elements and vendor links is provided to direct the Client as to where to purchase the updated elements. The purchase of these items is optional to the Client.

Luxury Design Package ($2,495 per room)

  • Remote or on-site 45-minute consultation with photo submission

  • Research of updated elements and materials recommended for the project based on Client’s directives and budget.

  • Maximum updated elements and materials are no more than 10 elements are included in this package.

  • Design recommendation plan presented in a preliminary format of concept boards, with not more than three revisions included.

  • With final Client’s approval a full-color rendering of the complete recommendation design plan is provided, showing all final elements and updates in the rendering.

  • A Statement Sheet with not more than 10 updated elements and vendor links is provided to the Client as to where to purchase the updated elements. The purchase of these items is optional to the Client.

 

Feature Wall Add-On (No Fireplace): $1,595
Fireplace Feature Wall Add-On: $1,595

Must be purchased with a standard or luxury package.

Includes these stand-alone services.

  • Remote or on-site 45-minute consultation with photo submission

  • Research of updated elements and materials recommended for the project based on Client’s directives and budget.

  • Maximum updated elements and materials are no more than 10 elements are included in this package.

  • Design recommendation plan presented in a preliminary format of concept boards, with not more than three revisions included.

  • With final Client’s approval a full-color rendering of the complete recommendation design plan is provided, showing all final elements and updates in the rendering.

  • A Statement Sheet with not more than 10 updated elements and vendor links is provided to the Client as to where to purchase the updated elements. The purchase of these items is optional to the Client.

 

An additional Design Element can be ordered as an Add-On: $295 each for the service packages.

  • Must be added at project at the start of prior to final approval of the concept approval boards.

  • Includes design research, rendering integration, and vendor link.

 

Affiliated Expert Resources
As a courtesy, Provider may offer referrals to independent service professionals, contractors, painter, expert tile and floor installers, merchants, or product vendors to support the Client’s project execution. These referrals are not endorsements, and the Provider assumes no responsibility for the performance or availability of third-party services. They are, however, experts in the file of the service and provided to assist Client in the project completion. Clients are solely responsible for evaluating and contracting with these service providers, which is optional.

2. PAYMENT TERMS
All service packages require full advance payment. Design services are non-refundable. Flat fees apply per room and include the defined scope only. Additional services require a written quote and advance payment. Additional services or revisions beyond scope are billed at $150/hour.

If an invoice becomes overdue, interest accrues at 18% per annum or the maximum rate allowed by Illinois law. Design fees do not cover materials, installation, or labor.

Failure to pay or submit agreed deposits may be treated as breach of contract. The Provider may cease work and pursue remedies as permitted by law.

Return payments or stop payments will be treated as failure to pay and a breach of contract.

3. TERM & TERMINATION
This Agreement terminates upon full delivery of services as defined herein. Services may be terminated early in the event of default by either party, subject to written notice. Any termination on the Client’s part, must be received in writing, prior to receipt of any design services provided. Because of the nature of these services and the fact that once consultation and design ideas are shared, they cannot be returned or pulled back, therefore, all of our services are non-refundable and knowledge that services shared are services provided.

4. OWNERSHIP & USE
All deliverables, concepts, and renderings remain the property of Modernize Methods LLC. The Client is granted a license for personal or project use only and may not resell or replicate the materials without written permission.

 

5. CLIENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Clients must:

  • Submit design priorities and feedback within an agreeable time frame and are targeted to stay on schedule is 1-2 business days.

  • Approve concept boards and layouts in a timely manner under a schedule mutually agreed to and not exceeding 4 weeks.

Follow-up Requirement for Approvals or required information requests and holding open unresolved project concepts is costly and time consuming, therefore, project concept approvals or information requests left unresolved by Client for more than six months will be considered completed and fulfilled by Provider, with no further services or refund required. Client’s communication of schedule adjustments and timely follow-up is a required part of the services agreement

6. SERVICE LIMITATIONS
Provider’s deliverables include design suggestions, concept boards, estimated layouts, and purchase links. Installation coordination, exact measurements, and final product selection remain the responsibility of the Client and their chosen contractor.

Provider is not liable for third-party product availability, delivery issues, or performance.

7. TERMS OF SERVICE
Modernize Methods LLC offers tremendous value through set package prices and flat-fee services. Clients are encouraged to plan carefully and determine design goals before starting. Packages do not include multiple concept revisions. A list of design priorities should be discussed during the consultation to ensure budget alignment and satisfaction. Additional revisions or updates must be requested at project start of the project prior to concept approval and, if desired, will incur added costs.

Estimated turnaround time: 1–2 weeks from final Concept Approval, depending on research time and Client responsiveness, this estimate can vary.

Concept Approval: Service packages are flat-rate, per room. Design, research, and rendering services do not include multiple revisions. Once the final rendering is completed, the package is considered fulfilled. Clients must review and approve the “Inspirational Layout,” “Concept Approval,” carefully before finalization. Prompt feedback is required (within 1–2 business days) to maintain project timelines.

Non-Refundable Services: All services are non-refundable once consultations and design ideas are shared. Because of the nature of these services and the fact that once consultation and design ideas are shared, they cannot be returned or pulled back, therefore, all of our services are non-refundable and knowledge that services shared are services provided.

Shopping List Notice: A finalized, itemized list of approved updates will be provided. Product availability is not guaranteed. Clients must secure items promptly and work with their own contractor for ordering and installation measurements.

Scope of Work: Includes design recommendations, color and element updates, layout guidance, and shopping list links. Final layout and measurements must be confirmed by the Client’s contractor or installer. Provider is not responsible for changes due to structural constraints.

Timely Follow up: Timely Follow-Up Requirement: Projects with unresolved concepts or unanswered requests for more than 6 months will be marked as completed with no further service or refund. Timely communication and follow-through are essential.

 

8. DISCLAIMERS
Design services are creative recommendations based on Client input and market research. Final effectiveness, comfort, and product fit are subjective and outside the scope of Provider guarantees.

9. LEGAL TERMS

  • Default & Remedies: Failure to pay or comply with terms may result in termination or legal remedy.

  • Dispute Resolution: Disputes shall be settled by binding arbitration under AAA rules.

  • Governing Law: This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Illinois.

  • Severability & Amendments: Any invalid provisions shall not affect the enforceability of the remainder. Amendments must be in writing.

  • Force Majeure: The Provider is not liable for delays due to uncontrollable events (e.g., natural disaster, pandemic).

  • Assignment: Neither party may transfer this Agreement without prior written consent.

10. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS

By booking a service and submitting payment, the Client agrees to the full terms of this Service Agreement.
